Good neighbors

Happiness is making ribollita (a Tuscan soup) and finding out, when you go to open a big can of tomatoes, that you don't own a can opener (how is this possible?) and so you decide to ask your neighbors if they have one, and though the adorable student down one flight doesn't own one, he tries to open the can with a knife (at which point you, terrified, gently suggest that he stop), but the couple two flights down has two pop-top cans of tomatoes that equal your one big one and they give them to you, and so you make the soup and that night you bring some of it to the neighbors and two days later the adorable student (who, btw, is classically, heartbreakingly beautiful) returns your container—along with a can opener—and pronounces your soup "buonissima."
